Esteban Belinchón is a versatile and active cellist with a solid international training that spans both classical repertoire and contemporary music. Recognized for his artistic sensitivity and his ability to explore the acoustic and expressive possibilities of the cello, Belinchón skillfully combines works by established classical composers with innovative creations by prominent figures in the contemporary music scene. His artistic approach reflects a constant quest to redefine the role of the cello in today’s musical context. Born in León, Belinchón completed his higher music studies with honors at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Salamanca. He continued his training at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC), studying with renowned musicians such as Lluís Claret, Damian Martínez, and the Casals Quartet. He later specialized in Austria at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, where he earned two master’s degrees: one in Chamber Music with Chia Chou and Rudolf Leopold, and another in Contemporary Music Performance with the acclaimed ensemble Klangforum Wien.
He has been a full member of the Spanish National Youth Orchestra and an academy musician with the Gran Teatre del Liceu Orchestra in Barcelona. As a soloist, he has performed with the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, and has collaborated with international ensembles including Ensemble Schallfeld, Szene Instrumental, KUG Ensemble für Neue Musik, Vienna Classical Players, and Oper Burg Gars Orchester.
Alongside his artistic activity, Belinchón is deeply committed to education. He has served as an associate professor at the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears and currently teaches cello at both the Palma Municipal School of Music and the Conservatory of Manacor.
His solo performances in the Balearic Islands include appearances at festivals such as Palma de Primavera, Música a la Cambra at Can Balaguer, and the International Composers’ Encounter organized by the ACA Foundation. As a chamber musician, he is a member of Trio Colombram and has performed at festivals including the Alaró Festival and the Puigpunyent Festival. He is also the founder and director of the Maria Classical Festival and the Balearic Islands Cello Meeting.
